TOUR 4
Isle of Mull Tour
Our adventure begins with a ferry ride from Oban, offering beautiful views of the town from the sea. The crossing takes approximately 45–50 minutes, giving you time to take in the stunning scenery as we approach the Isle of Mull.
Our first destination is Inch Kenneth, a peaceful and picturesque island just off the coast of Mull. The surrounding landscapes provide breathtaking views, making it a perfect introduction to the island’s natural beauty.
We then drive along the scenic coastal road to Calgary Bay, a spectacular white sandy beach. The calcium-rich soils here create a unique habitat filled with wildflowers and grasses. Keep an eye out for seabirds—and if we’re lucky, we might even spot seals resting in the bay.
Next, we visit the Isle of Mull Cheese Farm, a family-run farm known for its famous cheese. Recently, they’ve begun producing a unique whisky, Wheyski, using the sweet whey from the cheesemaking process. You can book a guided tour (£20 per adult, £5 per child aged 5–18) to learn about their traditional cheesemaking methods. Their Glass Barn café also offers delicious light meals and homemade bakes.
Our journey then takes us to the charming town of Tobermory, where you’ll have time to explore at your own pace. Wander along the colourful harbourfront, browse local shops, or enjoy fresh seafood at one of the restaurants.
Finally, we’ll visit Duart Castle, a historic fortress with stunning coastal views. While the castle itself will be closed in the morning, we can stop for a walk around the grounds or visit later in the day before catching the ferry back to Oban.
This route showcases some of Mull’s most breathtaking landscapes and offers plenty of opportunities to spot local wildlife along the way. It’s the perfect way to experience the island’s beauty, history, and unique charm.
